WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade items increases item level by 3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item upgrades that is used to upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are useful items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other items. Players can purchase them from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using a button, which will display an image of the item at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current Best item upgrade level. For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Upgraders for items can be found at many locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain the latest recipe. The upgrade discount increases with the number of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require various methods which is both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with some new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level for an Best item upgrade in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less, even when they are part of another set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of equipment being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

The use of these currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, once an item level upgrade is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one usage therefore it's essential to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
